Vasily Livanov as Sherlock Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Dr. Watson. The 1979-1986 Russian adaptations of the world famous fictional detective have to be my favourite versions around – even if they do like to drag on at spots. The dialogue is held up by great writing that is both beautifully sarcastic and believable, and the actors breathe life into their characters with acted out expressions ranging from subtle and foreboding to exaggerated and hilarious. Most importantly, a lot of the camera shots and imagery are clearly inspired by film noir that I love dearly.

The painting began as a speed paint that I then refined into a full digital painting, spending minimum thirty hours on it.
